Bluebenx wants to give 30 cents to Shiba Inu after disappearing R$ 160 million from customers

Bluebenx wants to give 30 cents to Shiba Inu after disappearing R$ 160 million from customers

BlueBenx has emerged from its sarcophagus and announced that it will resume a crypto bounty program. The company that stopped paying customers and then vanished with millions of dollars made the announcement via email that it would provide Shiba Inu compensation as part of the rewards program.

In an email to its customers, the Brazilian cryptocurrency investment firm promised to deliver the promised quantity of Shiba Inu tokens (SHIB) when it stopped paying customers in August of last year.

BlueBenx's Ruin

On August 11, 2022, customers of BlueBenx were surprised to learn that they could no longer withdraw the money they had deposited on the platform, which promised high returns by investing in cryptocurrencies.

BlueBenx stopped customers from withdrawing money by claiming that they had been the target of an "extremely aggressive" hacker attack. However, they later changed the story and said that they had been the target of a false listing scam.

The company says it will send its customers 5,000 units of SHIB—equivalent to BRL 0.31—after stealing BRL 160 million from users and having an agreement rejected by the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM).

The email states that the recipient must create a BitMart account and complete a BlueBenx form: "BlueBenx Rewards, our crypto rewards program, is back and we will be delivering SHIBAs from last year's campaign, plus an exclusive +20% bonus for Brazilian HODLers who trusted our program."

The CVM confirmed on December 18 that BlueBenx's agreement offer had been rejected.

The company's proposal called for the controller Roberto de Jesus Cardassi to receive an additional R$ 50,000 in addition to the company's R$ 150,000 payment.

Before BlueBenx went bust in January 2022, a CVM committee had initially rejected the company's proposal to close the municipality's investigation into the questionable offer of investments in bitcoin made by BlueBenx.

The Committee's Board approved the decision to keep this legal obstacle on the 18th. The municipality said in a statement that it "concluded that there was a legal impediment to the conclusion of the agreement, in view of non-compliance with the legal requirement regarding the cessation of irregularities" that led to the decision.

Assuramaya Kuthumi, the company's lawyer, said at the time that the incident cost the company 160 million BRL.

However, an investigation by Portal do Bitcoin found that on-chain evidence revealed a token loss of just BRL 1.1 million that BlueBenx allegedly suffered when it became involved in a false listing scheme and later transferred to the Binance brokerage.

The victims began contacting the court system in an effort to retrieve the enigmatic funds that the business had "lost."

The BlueBenx court saw evidence of fraud and even granted the company's leaders' requests to block assets and values, but the accounts were already empty.

Seizure of assets by the leadership of BlueBenx

Roberto de Jesus Cardassi and William Batista submitted a request in September for the seizure of real estate to the 43rd Civil Court of So Paulo. The judge in charge of the case, according to the Diário de Justiça, ordered the blockade of the defendants' properties after unsuccessful searches for financial assets in their possession.

It is important to keep in mind that, in a lawsuit brought by a different client, the Court discovered BRL 1.4 million in the executive's Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW luxury cars, but that their bank accounts had already been emptied.

It was now time to look for properties.

Seven of the duo's properties were found and seized in total. BlueBenx CEO Roberto Cardassi owns four properties in various cities, including Boituva, So José do Rio Preto (SP), Taquaritinga (SP), and So Paulo.

Three properties, two in So Paulo and one in Taquaritinga, were discovered on behalf of BlueBenx vice president of operations and Cardassi's right-hand man, William Batista.

Due to the secrecy of the Justice process, it is impossible to identify these properties' characteristics or estimate their value.

The judge ordered an official letter to be sent to the notaries where the executives' properties are registered as an urgent measure in his decision.
